How to turn in project:
1) Pick 1 person in the group to submit a) the notes you used collected, and b) your visualization. (include sources used in the notes section, unless you put it on the visualization somewhere)
2) Make sure that everyone who participated on the work has their name on both parts of the project!
3) Bring the and turn in! Will use when grading (everyone will get their own score for the project)
4) I Will use the rubric at the bottom of the assignment to grade.

What is the relationship between chemistry and biology? How did cells first form and life begin on Earth?
These are important questions to think about because they aim the answer fundamental questions about how life began on Earth!
The purpose of this assignment is to learn about different hypotheses proposed, and experiments conducted to try and answer the question: How did life begin on earth?
First : Make a group of 3 or 4 people in lecture. Each group is assigned a current hypothesis on the origins of life (by Prof. Redfern)
Second: Everyone Reads pages 34-37 in
Third: Break up the research for the hypothesis and among the group members
(5 points) 2 people: Background Info to research:
a) Who proposed the Hypothesis and when?
b) When does the hypothesis propose this event may have occurred (time-wise)?
c) What would conditions on earth have been like at the time?
d) What sources of energy helped the process occur?
e) What elements/molecules were needed to form the structures and where did they come from?
(5 points) 2 people: Mechanism of formation: How does the mechanism proposed work?
Example: Hydrothermal vents:
a) What are hydrothermal vents? Where are they found? what are conditions like there?
b) What biomolecule or metabolic process is proposed to have started in this scenario?
c) How is that molecule or reaction proposed to have occurred?
d) How did formation of that molecule lead to formation of a cell?
(10 points) Fourth: Create a document that illustrates the the hypothesis your group is assigned. Options include: Infographic (illustration), Flowchart, Concept Map or Comparative Poster
