HUM 2020. Presentation and Guidelines & Topics

Choose a painting, artist, sculptor, structure, opera, symphony, composer, etc., fromthe list of topics below and create a slide-based presentation. The artist/artworkneeds to have significance in todays world, and you must state how he/she/itis significant in your presentation. Most of your grade will hinge upon whether youhave proven this significance.

2. Find relevant information in books, academic articles, oncredible web sites, in magazines, etc. No Wikipedia

3. Summarize the information you want to present from the different sources. (Asummary states the important points gathered from the sources.)

4. If the student plagiarizes any information, an automatic zero will be givento the presentation. You may NOT use pre-made slide shows from theinternet or other sources (including anything from current or formerstudents). This results in a zero.

5. In your slides, you must have proper MLA in-text citations, and a Works Cited pageas your final slide(s). You must cite ALL sources in the presentation.

6. Make clear what contribution(s) the artist (or work or structure) made to the world,and why he/she/it continues to be significant today. You must also include how thisartist affected you or hooked your interest this is your personal reaction. Why didyou choose this person, place, or thing to explore?

7. Create visuals to enhance your presentation. Make the slides readable and clear.Use graphics or art to make it interesting. Use text/type that is easy to read anddoesnt clash or get lost in the graphics/colors/art on the slides.

9. Create a slide-based presentation incorporating all elements above. Must have atleast 15 Slides!

-Good summary of the main points; long enough to get point across (15 slides minimum is required); has historical and biographical details

–You must establish how the artist, composer, sculptor, architect, painting, building, composition, etc., has endured the test of time. Why do we still study about this today? How is it important for the world and for us? You must discuss and prove the significance of this person, place or thing; show context and relevance to todays world.

-Insightful personal comments and/or slide(s) as to why the subject was interesting to the student; why you chose this topic, or why it became interesting after the research began; use your own words.

Topics must be within the time periods from the time ofthe ancient Greeks (500 BCE) to the end of the 19th century. Your topic also must be focused on Western Europe, which is whatthis course explores. include good, clear images/pictures. If your topic is a structure, include lots of photos/images/diagrams of the building. If your topic is a painter, be sure to include images of that persons artwork.
